- Obesity increased in 28 states, according to this report by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
- Kellogg determined it was tainted packaging making people sick, not actually their cereal. (Well, that's great and all, but practically speaking, it doesn't make a difference!)
- The Center for Science in the Public Interest launched a report about the risks of artificial colors in foods.
- The Journal of Public Health published an analysis of the sodium and sugar content of baby and toddler foods (all the more reason to make your own!)
- Promising research published regarding the treatment of major depression with omega-3 fatty acids (although omega-3s did not appear to be effective when anxiety was also present).

There's been so much in the news this week! I feel like I could write a post about each one. Here's a sampling of what caught my eye:

We are doing semi-baby led weaning with Evan. At home he almost exclusively get table food and almost exclusively things made from scratch. He only gets baby food at daycare but even there he mostly gets table food. Still I have yet to find a puff or round cereal without sugar. I am shocked at the sugar and salt in Stonyfield YoBaby Yogurt. And the worst is that my lifesaver, Baby Mum Mums have both sugar and salt.
ReplyDeleteHopefully this article will open eyes in both Canada, where the study happened, and here in the US.
